It’s no coincidence that many of pro cycling’s biggest names choose to live in Girona and train in the hills around. Fantastic roads, lack of traffic, challenging climbs, beautiful coastline and great weather are just some of the reasons that the pros will give you for choosing Girona.

Our escape is based at Vuelta's villa in Calonge, on the coast 30 miles southwest of Girona. From here we’ll explore the network of coastal and inland roads that will often seem like they've been closed to traffic for your very own Vuelta.

This Vuelta offers a fantastic variety of stunning scenery, tough climbs and exhilarating descents. You’ll be ready at the end of a hard day’s ride for a beer and a dip in the heated pool, followed by an evening of great food and fine wine at one of the many excellent local restaurants.

Day 1

We fly into Barcelona early on the Friday morning and make the one hour transfer to the villa in Calonge, arriving in good time for a 77km afternoon ride taking us through  national park, down to the coast at Tossa de Mar returning along the stunning coastal road.

Day 2

A quick transfer to the west of Girona gives us access to the stunning Les Guilleries massif. With challenging climbs, beautiful roads and magnificent descents, the route takes us through wild and varying landscapes dotted with small villages that seem to belong to a bygone era.

When we arrive back at Les Mines D’Osor you’ll have covered 120km and climbed over 2,500m, so you'll be ready for a dip in the pool before a rest and dinner.

Day 3

Heading inland from the villa, we travel north toward the French border, through more national park with forests and farmland interspersed with beautiful villages. Then we turn west towards Girona, where we'll have a well-earned lunch in the historic old town to celebrate a great weekend of Spanish cycling before the evening flight home.
